These affectionate, smart, adorable family dogs are a combination of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. They love their humans, and require a lot of human attention and love.
Much like the Mini, the Standard Bernedoodle also ranges significantly in size, from 45 to 110lbs (20-50kg) on average. There are two different kinds: the F1 Standard Bernedoodle and the F1B Standard Bernedoodle. The F1 Standard Bernedoodle is 50% Bernese Mountain Dog and 50% Poodle. The F1B Standard Bernedoodle is a cross of a F1 Standard Bernedoodle and a Poodle, resulting in a 25% Bernese Mountain Dog and 75% Poodle mix. F1s enjoy a great balance of Mountain Dog and Poodle temperament; the F1B might lack some of the affectionate nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog, but is usually very intelligent and less likely to shed. F1 Standard Bernedoodles are usually very healthy and robust in nature, while F1B Standard Bernedoodles are more prone to congenital defects.
The typically soft, wavy coats of Standard Bernedoodles are also highly varied in color, and can be solid (black, sable, silver, etc.), bi-color (any solid color plus white), or tri-colored (black, white, tan or sable, white, tan).
These heart-melting, smart, and sometimes stubborn dogs benefit from early training and socialization. Due to the variation in their size, be prepared for a puppy that could grow to be a somewhat large adult.
